Benedict's Early LifeArnold was born the second child of six in his family. His siblings consist of Benedict, Hannah, Mary, Absolom, and Elizabeth. Arnold enrolled in a private school in Canterbury, but the death of Elizabeth lead to there family loosing there fortune because his father starting drinking. Arnold's mother died in 1759, Arnold was heart broken because he was very close to his mother. After his mothers death his fathers drinking worsened, his father got arrested for public drunkenness, and got denied from his church.
Benedict's Later LifeIn the war Arnold was the captain of the Connecticut militia, he was elected to this position on March 1775. Arnold was plotting to change sides, because he wanted to be on the winning side in the end the United States won. Around the time in May 1779 Benedict met up with Joseph Stansbury to discuss there arrangement for Benedict to change sides.
